After retiring from both the Canadian Armed Forces (Reserve) and a career in human services, working with the challenges faced by youth and adults alike, what possessed me to write YA Fantasy, beginning with a trilogy of novellas?
Having helped raise two stepdaughters who now have children of their own, I felt a need to be the storyteller of ages past, that "grandpa" who could sit by the fireplace and tell a story with a moral. Fantasy allows for such tales.
In the case of "Willow Awakened, Ascended, Avenged", I wanted to address issues of bullying, racial acceptance and personal growth. Hopefully, I'm achieving that aim.
